myMECA is a pay calculator application designed specifically for New Zealand nurses. The Service calculates estimated take-home pay based on MECA pay scales, deductions, and work type information provided by users.

Important: The calculations provided are estimates only and should not be considered as financial or legal advice. Actual pay may vary due to factors not captured by this calculator.

3. User Account

3.1 Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account using a valid email address or Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. Please notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

4. Use of Service

4.1 Permitted Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

4.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use automated means to access the Service without permission
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Collect or store personal data about other users
  • Share your account credentials with others

5. Accuracy of Calculations

Important Disclaimer: While we strive to provide accurate pay calculations based on current MECA pay scales and New Zealand tax regulations, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the calculations.

Factors that may affect actual pay include but are not limited to:

  • Individual employment agreements
  • Changes in tax rates or regulations
  • Special deductions or allowances
  • KiwiSaver rates and employer contributions
  • Student loan repayments
  • Other personal circumstances

You should always verify calculations with your employer's payroll department or a qualified accountant.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by myMECA and is protected by New Zealand and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content on the Service without our express written permission.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of any data you input into the Service (pay scale information, deductions, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a license to use this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

We do not claim ownership of your personal information or calculations.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party services including:

  • Google OAuth: For authentication
  • Supabase: For data storage and authentication

Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
  • Calculations will be accurate for your specific situation

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY NEW ZEALAND LAW, myMECA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

This includes but is not limited to any damages arising from incorrect pay calculations, reliance on the Service for financial decisions, or any other use of the Service.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless myMECA and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Changes to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
